About Us

EDUCATING ABOUT DIABETES THROUGH STORIES, BOTH FICTION & NON-FICTION

The Brown Skin & Insulin Collective was created by CEO, Shaina Hatchell when she noticed the need for more diversified diabetes education resources. With an increasing number of BIPOC children and adults being diagnosed with diabetes of all types, she has found them to require more time and education due to the lack of general knowledge in their communities. Through this platform, she intends to normalize diabetes conversations for those who are immediately affected by the disease as well as those who are not. Starting with the Shia Learns Book Series, she has been successful in increasing consumer interest in the disease, its types, and what the community can do to make sure those affected have better care and understanding. Stay tuned for the upcoming projects and products this company will provide as we continue to advocate for the underserved and underheard.
